Events for 2009
We have had many successful and fun events this year with still more to come!
Kapiti Women's Triathlon 1st March
Once again the collective facilitated the registrations for the participants in the Kapiti Women's Triathlon. This is an annual fundraising activity for the collective, an activity that fits so well with our ethos of empowering women to achieve what they choose to do with their lives. We try to make the registration as smooth and as much fun as we can and being at the finish line as the women complete the course is just inspiring. A wonderful day and a wonderful event to be part of! 642 women took part and about 80 volunteers did their utmost to ensure that it was the best possible experience.

Big Dig 7th March
This year the Kapiti Women's Centre was fortunate to once more have the opportunity to raise funds at the Observer and Rotary Big Dig. We were there bright and early with hundreds of sausages and drinks to sell. Full of purpose and good humour, we were very busy and sold out of all our yummy sausages and most of our drinks. It was great fun and the money raised this year will go towards our 21st birthday celebrations.

Mid- Winter Swim
An intrepid team once again took to the water at Waikanae to celebrate the Winter solstice. The Kapiti Women's Centre "Serpent" was chosen an the best dressed team. What a great effort on such a cold and windy day!

Fundraising Quiz Night
Our fabulous Quiz Night was held at the Kapiti Community Centre on Friday 18th September. The evening was a great success with a full house and lots of raffle tickets sold. We raised $3,719.35 from the event, which is due to the generous sponsorship and support we received from the Kapiti Community and the hard work of the Collective.

21st Anniversary Celebrations
A fabulous 21st Birthday Celebration was held on 21st November 2009 when we acknowledged and celebrated the achievements of the women who have contributed to this wonderful place for women over the past 21 years.
The day started with a powhiri at the Kapiti Women's Centre to welcome all our visitors onto our grounds. Labour MP Winnie Laban planted a rose and National MP Hekia Parata planted a camelia in the gardens. A mosaic created by a group of women from the Centre for this special occasion was then unveiled by Rae Lutman, the KWC Coordinator.
The afternoon ceremony and tea was held in the Community Cente which was followed by a ceremony and dinner at the Southward Car Museum Restaurant. It was a wonderful day of celebration, acknowledgement and recognition of all the work and dedication of the women at the Centre, and the contribution the Kapiti Women's Centre has made to the Kapiti Community.
